Dr. Mustafa Ibrahim Akinwunmi was born on 25th March 1972 into the family of Alhaji and Alhaja Yakub Mustafa of Agbowa Ikosi in Ikosi-Ejinrin LCDA Epe, Lagos State. He began his primary education at Akilo Primary School, Ogba in 1977 and had his secondary school education at Ijebu Ode Grammar School in Ogun State. He later proceeded to Obafemi Awolowo College of Health Science, Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago-Iwoye in Ogun State where he bagged his MBBS. He had his postgraduate residency training at the National Orthopedic Hospital Igbobi between 2002 and 2008. In 2009, he had his Post Graduate Fellowship of the West African College of Surgeon (FWACS) in Orthopedics and Trauma.
Dr. Mustafa joined the Lagos State Public Service in 1999 as a Medical Officer in the General Hospital Agbowa, Ikorodu and has since traversed various State General Hospitals serving in different capacities. He rose through the ranks to the post of Director Clinical Services and Training, Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH), Ikeja.
A member of Nigeria Medical Association (NMA); Medical and Dental Consultants Association of Nigeria (MDCAN); Nigeria Orthopedic Association (NOA); Arthroplasty Society of Nigeria (ASN); Medical Guild Lagos State amongst others.
He has published academic papers in both local and international journals to his credit, among which are Characteristics of Pediatric Burns (2014); Emergency Medical Services Outcome (2014), Child Pedestrian Injury and Fatality in a Developing Country (2014) and Pedestrian Injury (2015) e.t.c.
Dr. Mustafa likes to travel and play table tennis at leisure. He is happily married and blessed with Children.
