Dr. Aina Olugbemiga Ayoola -PERMANENT SECRETARY

Dr. Aina Olugbemiga Ayoola joined the service of Lagos State in 1992 as a Medical Officer at Massey Street Children’s Hospital. He had his Basic Primary and Secondary School Education at St Paul’s Primary School Ebute-Meta and Igbobi College Yaba and undergraduate studies in Medicine at Ogun State University. Dr Aina has rotated through many Lagos General hospitals to acquire clinical experience

Massey Street Children Hospital &Lagos Island Maternity Hospital (1992-1995).

General Hospital Epe (1995-1996).

He proceeded on a formal Postgraduate training in Paediatrics and Child Health (Lagos University Teaching Hospital 1996-2002) with a subspecialisation in neonatology. He returned to the service of Lagos State Government and was posted to Gbagada General Hospital briefly before being deployed back to Massey Street Children Hospital (2003-2005)and was saddled with the responsibility of establishing a fully functional neonatal unit at Lagos Island Maternity Hospital to be managed by Massey Street Children Hospital, an initiative which led to a significant reduction in neonatal mortality at Lagos Island Maternity Hospital. He was chosen for further training in Neonatology under the Nigerian German Business Group. He had his rotations at the Klinikum Ludenscheid Markeshei kreis Germany (2005).

He is a fellow of the National Postgraduate Medical College. He also holds a Master degree in Public Health and a Postgraduate Diploma in Hospital Management. He is an Alumnus of the Health Care Leadership Academy and completed different modules and certifications in quality improvement in health, Healthcare Strategic Planning (CAMBRIDGE UNIVERSITY) and Financial Management in (Lagos Business School), Leadership and Management in Health (University of Washington).

He also served as pioneer head of the First Mother and Child Complex (MCC) in General Hospital Ikorodu (2010-2014). He served as the Director of Clinical Services, General Hospital Isolo (2014-2016)

He was appointed Medical Director Amuwo Odofin Maternal and Child Centre (2016-2017) and subsequently redeployed as Medical Director, Massey Street Children Hospital from 2017 to 2020. He transformed the hitherto poorly funded Children Hospital by deploying innovative ideas to improve the revenue base of the hospital and also utilizing to the fullest CSR activities of various companies to improve the ambience and quality of services of the hospital.

These modest achievements culminated in his appointment as Permanent Secretary Lagos state Primary Health Care Board on February 2nd 2020 by Mr. Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu.

He is happily married with children.
